We have already built the registration system that employs an XML/HTTPS interface to the registration database.
Registrations are taken via mobile - using the following notation: KEYWORD POSTCODE so to register you would use - ALERTS RH174TH and send the SMS to 07786208080.
Also by the internet by going to the registration screen from the main site.
The platform used to build this system is the award winning pure Java application server WebObjects.
Recently national press and television reported on the Child Rescue scheme that is intended to employ media to report on missing chldren at risk of serious or fatal injury to which the SMS system is a part.
Other members of this collaboration are Multimap and Thus (a more common known brand of Thus is Demon Internet, one of England's biggest ISPs) who are supplying technology for mapping and bandwidth/hardware.
The scope of Community Alerts offers organizations, such as Police, Utilities and other more general companies, the facility of using a subscribed user base to which a message can be sent - whether an alert of a missing child or of the closure at a local school due to a boiler malfunction.
The messages would be sent as either emails, SMS or MMS and be sent within seconds of being originated.
